Geoje is a moderately small city that is located in the province of South Gyeongsang in South Korea. The province has a convenient location just off the coast of Busan, a famous port city in South Korea. Geoje Island is home to prominent industries and companies like Samsung Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding, and Marine Engineering firms. Geoje is comprised of several islands, Geoje being the largest of them all. The main beaches are Gujora, Guyeong, Deokpo, Mulan, Heungnam, Myeongsa, and Yeocha Pebble Beach, all completely stunning in beautiful white sands and turquoise-blue waters. There are numerous tourist attraction spots in Geoje. The Hill of Wind is famed for the strong winds therein, and the windmill set on its highest point and is a popular filming spot for Korean TV shows. The Haegeumgang is a scenic mountain that is renowned for its resemblance of the famous Haegeum Mountain. It is, so far, one of the biggest attractions in Geoje. Geoje experiences a typical warm temperate climate, classified as in the Köppen climatic classification. The overall weather, primarily during winter, is mostly influenced by the warm ocean currents. Generally, the climate of Geoje is defined with warm and pleasant, but rainy summers, mildly cold and tolerable winters, and short, mild, and pleasant springs and autumns. Winter begins in December and ends in February. The temperatures range in the highs between 7.3°C (45.1°F) and 9.7°C (49.5°F) and lows between -1.6°C (29.1°F) and 0.3°C (32.5°F). Frigid days are rare as the warm ocean currents moderate the weather. Winter is the driest season of the year because the rain gauge collects approximately 43.3mm (1.7") per month in precipitation from an average of five rainy days. The driest month is December, garnering a low 29.7mm (1.2") in precipitation with only three and a half rainfall days. There are up to five and a half sunshine hours per day throughout winter. Spring is short and pleasant and is mainly a transitional period into summer. It begins in mid-March and ends in April, and has mostly mildly cold and lovely weather amid the beauty of the spring blossoms. Summer begins in May and extends through September. The average daily temperature averages highs of between 23.2°C (73.8°F) and 30.2°C (86.4°F) and lows of between 13.3°C (55.9°F) and 22.5°C (72.5°F). Scorching days are rare, as summer receives the highest rainfall of the year - the rainfall averages 294.3mm (11.6") per month across approximately twelve and a half days. The rainiest month is July when the rain gauge collects as high as 426.4mm (16.8") in precipitation from fifteen rainy days. Autumn is short, lasting between October and November. The weather is mild and pleasant as the temperature drops considerably to a daily mean of 13.1°C (55.6°F). The season brings the scenic beauty of the golden-brown fall to Geoje.
